Mexico faced off against Honduras in the 2023 CONCACAF Gold Cup on Sunday, June 25th, in Houston. Mexico immediately brought the fire, scoring the first goal of the match at 1’ after Luis Romo struck the bottom right corner of the net from outside the box. At 23’, Luis Romo tallied his second goal off a header from inside the box after a corner kick by Jesús Gallardo. Halftime arrived 2-0. Orbelín Pineda scored at 52’ after a shot from the second of the box, widening Mexico’s lead. The fourth goal came at 64’ after Luis Chávez struck a left footed shot from the center of the box, and Mexico would finish with a 4-0 victory after two minutes of added time.
