FAS resumes Girls Cubs Programme next month

SINGAPORE, 16 AUGUST 2023 – The Football Association of Singapore (FAS) is set to resume the FAS Girls Cubs Programme this September for girls between the ages of eight to 12.

First established in 2015 as an extension of the Cubs programme, the grassroots football development programme is aimed to promote football and increase participation among girls in the aforementioned age groups in the sport through play. The first all-girls training centre for the programme at Queensway Secondary School opened in 2015 before expanding to schools in other areas, i.e. Meridian Secondary School and Bowen Secondary School.

The programme had to be put on hold temporarily due to the Covid-19 pandemic restrictions, affecting its regular operations. Now, as things resume, participants can expect a few changes – notably, there’s no charge for joining this year’s edition and all training sessions will happen at the central venue of Jalan Besar Stadium every
