“Gareth Southgate’s England recorded a 2-0 win over Malta to strengthen their position at the top of Group C in qualifying for the European Championships in Germany next summer. However, The Three Lions were below par for much of the contest and only an Enrico Pepe own goal separated the sides at the break. Harry Kane added a second after the restart and Declan Rice had a goal ruled out.”
