Referee Teams Appointed For 2022 UEFA Club Competition Finals

In chronological order of the date of the matches, the UEFA Referees Committee has today announced the following referee team appointments for the 2022 UEFA club competition finals.
Slavko Vinčić will referee the 2022 UEFA Europa League final between Eintracht Frankfurt and Rangers FC, to be played at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán in Seville, Spain, on Wednesday 18 May at 21:00 CET.
An international referee since 2010, the 42-year-old Slovenian has taken charge of nine UEFA Champions League matches as of the play-off round, this season, including the quarter-final second leg between FC Bayern München and Villarreal CF. Vinčić will be involved in a major UEFA club competition final for the third time, after having acted as fourth official at the 2021 UEFA Europa League final, and as an Additional Assistant Referee at the 2017 UEFA Europa League final.
Vinčić will be assisted by compatriots Tomaž Klančnik and Andraž Kovačič. The fourth official, Srđan Jovanović, is from Serbia. The VAR role has been assigned to Paulus van Boekel (Netherlands), and he will be aided by Jure Praprotnik from Slovenia and Spaniards Alejandro Hernandez Hernandez and Roberto Diaz Perez del Palomar.
2022 UEFA Women’s Champions League Final Referee
The UEFA Referees Committee has also announced that Lina Lehtovaara will referee the 2022 UEFA Women’s Champions League final between FC Barcelona and Olympique Lyonnais, to be played at Juventus Stadium in Turin, Italy, on Saturday 21 May at 19:00 CET.
An international referee since 2009, the 40-year-old Finn will take charge of her first UEFA Women’s Champions League final after having been appointed as fourth official for the 2010 final. This season, she has refereed three UEFA Women’s Champions League matches – two in the group stage, as well as the quarter-final first leg between Real Madrid CF and FC Barcelona.
Lehtovaara was also recently selected as a referee for the upcoming UEFA Women’s EURO 2022, and was a member of the referees’ team at UEFA Women’s EURO 2017.
Lehtovaara will be assisted by Greece’s Chrysoula Kourompylia and Estonia’s Karolin Kaivoja. The fourth official is Jana Adamkova (Czech Republic). The VAR role has been assigned to Portugal’s Tiago Bruno Lopes Martins, and he will be accompanied by his compatriot João Silva Pinheiro and Paolo Valeri from Italy.
2022 UEFA Europa Conference League Final Referee
The UEFA Referees Committee has revealed that Romanian Istvan Kovacs will referee the 2022 UEFA Europa Conference League final between AS Roma and Feyenoord, to be played at the Arena Kombëtare in Tirana, Albania, on Wednesday 25 May at 21:00 CET.
Kovacs has been an international referee since 2010, and will be taking charge of his first UEFA club competition final. This season, the 37-year-old has officiated at 10 UEFA club competition matches, including the UEFA Champions League semi-final first leg between Manchester City FC and Real Madrid CF.
Kovacs will be assisted by compatriots Vasile Florin Marinescu and Mihai-Ovidiu Artene. The fourth official, Sandro Schärer, is from Switzerland. The VAR role has been assigned to Marco Fritz (Germany), and he will be aided by countrymen Christian Dingert and Bastian Dankert.
2022 UEFA Champions League Final Referee
The UEFA Referees Committee has appointed Clément Turpin to referee the 2022 UEFA Champions League final between Liverpool FC and Real Madrid CF, which takes place at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis, France, on Saturday 28 May at 21:00 CET.
The 39-year-old Frenchman, an international referee since 2010, will be officiating at his first UEFA Champions League final, after serving as fourth official in the 2018 final. He has refereed seven UEFA Champions League matches as of the play-off round, this season, including the quarter-final first leg between Chelsea FC and Real Madrid CF. Last season, he refereed the UEFA Europa League final.
Turpin will be assisted by countrymen Nicolas Danos and Cyril Gringore, while another Frenchman, Benoît Bastien, will be fourth official. The VAR role has been assigned to Jérôme Brisard (France), and he will be assisted by Willy Delajod (France) and two Italians, Massimiliano Irrati and Filippo Meli.
