Strasbourg sell top scorer Diallo to Saudi club Al-Shabab
Senegalese striker Habib Diallo, who hit 20 Ligue 1 goals for Strasbourg last season, has joined the player exodus to Saudi Arabia and signed for Al-Shabab, the French club announced on Thursday.
French media reported that Strasbourg could receive as much as 20 million euros (21.75 million dollars), which would be a club record.
The 28-year-old striker joined Strasbourg from Metz in 2020 and scored a total of 41 goals in 103 games in all competitions.
“Habib has brought a lot to Racing and we are grateful to him for that. We’ve always believed in his qualities and he’s justified our confidence in him,” said Strasbourg chairman Marc Keller.
“I told him that in the event of an interesting offer for both him and the club, he would be allowed to leave, and I kept my promise.”
Habib was not included in the squad as Strasbourg beat Lyon 2-1 in their opening league game of the season on Sunday.
