Everton have confirmed the signing of Jack Grealish on a season-long loan from Manchester City, giving the England international the chance to revive his career after falling out of favour at the Etihad Stadium.

Grealish, who still has two years remaining on his City contract, was left out of the Club World Cup squad this summer and will now join David Moyes’ side as their marquee signing of the transfer window. He follows Thierno Barry, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Carlos Alcaraz, Adam Aznou and Mark Travers through the doors at Goodison Park.

“I’m over the moon to have signed for Everton. It’s massive for me, honestly. This is a great club, with great fans,” Grealish said. “As soon as I spoke to the manager, I knew there was only one place that I wanted to go. On social media, I’ve been flooded with messages from Everton supporters, so there’s that side of it as well and that’s another reason why I chose Everton.

“I want to say thank you to the fans for all of the messages I’ve had already. Thank you for all of the love and support. I hope I can repay you now and I’m sure I will.”

Moyes said the move came at the right moment for both the player and the club. “I think we’re getting him at a good time because he’s experienced, he understands the Premier League and we’re all fully aware of the levels he’s capable of performing to,” Moyes said. “We’re all looking forward to working with him and providing a platform for him to show the best version of himself.”

Grealish joined City from Aston Villa in 2021 in a then British-record £100 million transfer and made 157 appearances in all competitions, scoring 17 goals and providing 23 assists. He was a key figure in City’s 2023 treble-winning season but has struggled to recapture that form since.

With the 2026 World Cup in North America looming next summer, Grealish will be aiming for regular game time at Everton in order to secure his place in Thomas Tuchel’s England squad.
