• Comments follow confirmation of Salah’s Liverpool departure
Jamie Carragher has said Mohamed Salah’s Premier League legacy eclipses that of Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney, placing him among the greatest players in the competition’s history.
Carragher’s comments come after Salah confirmed he will leave Liverpool at the end of the season following a nine-year spell at Anfield.
Writing in his column, Carragher ranked Salah second only to Thierry Henry in what he described as the “pantheon of overseas attacking players” in the Premier League.
“Only Thierry Henry eclipses Salah’s output and consistency,” Carragher said.
He added that while players such as Eden Hazard, Gianfranco Zola, Dennis Bergkamp and Eric Cantona are often discussed among the league’s greats, none matched Salah’s sustained statistical impact.
Carragher also highlighted Salah’s role in the success of Jürgen Klopp’s Liverpool side, which won both the Premier League and Champions League during his time at the club.
“Whenever the Klopp era is remembered, Salah will forever be synonymous with that success,” he said.
He also pointed to Salah’s durability as a defining trait, noting his consistent availability across nine seasons, with more than 400 appearances for the club.
Salah leaves Liverpool as one of the most influential players in the club’s modern history, with his impact extending beyond goals to shaping one of the most successful periods at Anfield.
