Liam Rosenior Calls Chelsea Defeat at Everton ‘Most Disappointing Evening So Far’
• Chelsea suffered a 3-0 loss to Everton, extending a poor run of form
• Liam Rosenior admits the performance “hurt” and fell below expectations
• Everton’s win boosts their hopes of a European place
Liam Rosenior admitted Chelsea’s 3-0 defeat to Everton was the “most disappointing evening so far” during a difficult period for the club.
Chelsea were outplayed at Hill Dickinson Stadium as their struggles continued, marking a fourth defeat in 10 days and extending their worst run since 2023.
“It’s a disappointing time for the club,” Rosenior said. “My job, it hurts. Regardless of your position, it hurts to lose games of football.
“The most disappointing evening so far in terms of the things we’ve spoken about. It wasn’t there and it turned into a really difficult night where the performance was nowhere near what we expected.”
Goals from Beto, who scored twice, and Iliman Ndiaye secured a convincing victory for Everton, while Jordan Pickford made key saves to preserve the clean sheet.
The defeat also means Chelsea have now failed to score in three consecutive matches across all competitions.
Despite the poor run, Rosenior pointed out that his side remain close to the Champions League places.
“In terms of moving forward we’re one point away from the Champions League position. We need to keep working,” he added.
For Everton, the result strengthens their push for European qualification, with manager David Moyes acknowledging the scale of the club’s progress.
“For Everton to even be in the mix for Europe is unbelievable,” Moyes said. “If we could possibly do it, it would mean everything to the supporters.”
The victory represents Everton’s biggest Premier League win over Chelsea and continues their strong recent form at home.
