Report: Chelsea reject Man United's 2nd offer for Mount

Manchester United will need to return with a third offer to successfully end their pursuit of Mason Mount.

The Red Devils failed to convince Chelsea to sell the English midfielder after an improved second bid worth close to £50 million was rejected, according to ESPN’s Rob Dawson.

The latest offer is above United’s opening bid of £40 million but still falls well short of Chelsea’s £70-million valuation for the 24-year-old midfielder.

Mount, who has a year left on his contract, looks destined to leave Stamford Bridge this summer after contract talks with Chelsea officials collapsed. He’s believed to be open to joining the Red Devils.

However, the transfer will likely hinge on Chelsea lowering their valuation, as United don’t think £70 million is a fair price for a player who could potentially leave the Blues for free next summer, Dawson adds.
