Manchester United Sack Manager Erik ten Hag

Manchester United have announced the departure of their first-team manager, Erik ten Hag, with immediate effect. The Dutchman, who took charge of the club in April 2022, led the Red Devils to two domestic trophies during his tenure, securing the Carabao Cup in 2023 and the FA Cup in 2024.

In an official statement released by the club, Manchester United expressed their gratitude for ten Hag’s contributions during his time at Old Trafford. “Erik ten Hag has left his role as Manchester United men’s first-team manager. Erik was appointed in April 2022 and led the club to two domestic trophies, winning the Carabao Cup in 2023 and the FA Cup in 2024. We are grateful to Erik for everything he has done during his time with us and wish him well for the future.”

Following ten Hag’s departure, the club has appointed former striker Ruud van Nistelrooy as interim head coach. Van Nistelrooy, who scored 150 goals in 219 appearances for United between 2001 and 2006, will be supported by the current coaching staff while the club searches for a permanent replacement.

Ten Hag’s sacking comes as a surprise to many, given his success in delivering silverware to the club. However, it is believed that the team’s inconsistent performances in the Premier League and their poor start to the season have contributed to the decision.

As Manchester United begins the process of identifying and appointing a new permanent head coach, fans will be eager to see how van Nistelrooy fares in his interim role and who the club ultimately chooses to lead them into the future.
