Phil Foden has reached an agreement to extend his stay with Manchester City, with a new contract set to run until 2030.

The 25-year-old, whose current deal was due to expire in 2027, is expected to sign an extension that also includes the option of a further 12 months. While final details are still being completed, sources indicate the agreement is now a formality.

Foden has been part of City’s setup since the age of four and has gone on to make more than 350 first-team appearances, becoming one of the club’s most recognizable academy graduates.

Despite his long-term commitment, the England international has endured a challenging campaign, struggling for regular starts under Pep Guardiola. He has not started a Premier League match since March, raising concerns about his chances of securing a place in England’s squad for the upcoming World Cup.

However, sources close to the player insist Foden never considered leaving the club, remaining fully committed to his future at the Etihad Stadium.

The new deal underlines City’s continued faith in Foden’s long-term importance, even as he looks to regain a more prominent role in Guardiola’s plans.
