Chelsea Chase Dortmund’s Jamie Gittens With £30m Bid

Chelsea are in discussions to bring Jamie Gittens to Stamford Bridge, with a proposal on the table for a seven-year contract for the Borussia Dortmund winger.
While the 20-year-old is reportedly open to joining the Premier League club, no fee has been finalised. Chelsea are prepared to part with £30 million, though Dortmund are holding firm in their valuation, seeking more than £40 million.
Gittens, who learned his trade in Manchester City’s youth ranks before switching to Dortmund in 2020, made his Bundesliga debut in 2022. This past campaign, he notched eight goals across 32 league appearances.
Despite his productivity, he’s not seen as a fit under head coach Niko Kovac, who took over at Dortmund in February.
Chelsea are focusing on adding a left winger with a strong right foot and recently secured striker Liam Delap from Ipswich Town. The club could postpone further movement on Gittens until after December’s FIFA Club World Cup—an event which features both Chelsea and Dortmund—if talks stall.
In contrast to their pursuit of Gittens, Chelsea’s interest in goalkeeper Mike Maignan of AC Milan appears to have stalled. The Italian side remain firm in their £25 million asking price for the France international, with no agreement in sight.
