Danish Superliga clubs FC Nordsjælland and AGF have been fined by the Danish Football Association (DBU) after a snowball fight erupted between their fans during a recent league match. The incident occurred on November 22, when FC Nordsjælland hosted AGF and won the game 1-0 thanks to a last-minute goal from American forward Milan Iloski.

Despite the relatively uneventful on-field action, the supporters’ behavior in the stands prompted the DBU to launch a disciplinary procedure. On Thursday, the DBU’s disciplinary body determined that four snowballs were thrown from the stands, two from each fanbase. In an effort to crack down on objects being thrown towards the pitch, the DBU fined both clubs 5,000 Kroner (approximately £555).

The disciplinary body stated that the snowballs did not hit any players and “had no influence on the conduct of the match.” However, the incident was deemed a “violation of the regulations on safety and order at the stadium.” Both clubs were held responsible for the behavior of fans in their respective sections, according to the DBU’s “objective responsibility” policy.

The snowball fight adds an unusual twist to the long-standing rivalry between FC Nordsjælland and AGF, two prominent clubs in Danish football. AGF currently sits fourth in the Superliga after 17 matches, while Nordsjælland is three places below them in the standings.

As the Danish Superliga season continues, FC Nordsjælland and AGF will look to focus on their on-field performances while ensuring that their fans adhere to the league’s safety and conduct regulations to avoid further disciplinary action.
