PSG’s Hakimi ruled out of Champions League semifinal second leg with injury
- Achraf Hakimi sidelined for several weeks with hamstring injury
- Defender to miss second leg against Bayern Munich
- PSG also lose goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier to thigh problem
Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed that Achraf Hakimi will be out for several weeks after sustaining a hamstring injury during their dramatic Champions League semifinal win over Bayern Munich.
Hakimi was injured late in the 5-4 first-leg victory at the Parc des Princes following a collision with Bayern’s Konrad Laimer. With no substitutions remaining, the Morocco international was unable to continue and now faces a spell on the sidelines.
The injury means Hakimi will miss the return leg in Munich next week, dealing a significant blow to PSG as they look to secure a place in the final.
In a statement, the club confirmed the defender had suffered a thigh injury and would be unavailable “for the next few weeks.”
Hakimi, who finished sixth in last year’s Ballon d’Or voting, has been a key figure for PSG this season and is also expected to play an important role for Morocco at the upcoming World Cup.
PSG also revealed that goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier will be sidelined for a similar period after picking up a thigh injury in training. Chevalier had been serving as backup to Matvei Safonov in recent months.
If PSG progress past Bayern, they will face either Arsenal or Atlético Madrid in the Champions League final on May 30.
