• Phil Parkinson has welcomed public backing from Wrexham co owner Rob Mac, who suggested the manager has the job for life after overseeing three promotions.
• Parkinson reflected on the club’s rapid rise from the National League to the Championship and stressed his determination to appreciate the journey.
• Attention now turns to an FA Cup fourth round tie with Ipswich, with fresh injury concerns complicating preparation.

Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson has embraced the public endorsement of co-owner Rob Mac, who suggested there was no scenario in which he would consider replacing the man who has led the club through three successive promotions.

Mac, who recently marked five years in charge alongside fellow coowner Ryan Reynolds, praised Parkinson after a period of extraordinary progress that has taken Wrexham from the National League to the Championship.

Parkinson responded by underlining both his gratitude and his sense of perspective.

“It is obviously great for Rob and Ryan to be saying things like that,” Parkinson said. “It is a fantastic story for us all, particularly when you buy a football club and step into the unknown. Five years later you find yourself in the top six of the Championship.

“Taking over a National League team with owners who were new to the game, who could have predicted it would work out like this?”

Parkinson admitted he is making a conscious effort to appreciate the scale of what has been achieved, even as the demands of management continue to push his focus forward.

“I want to enjoy each game, taking Wrexham to these away stadiums where we are filling the away ends and having moments that stay with you,” he said. “Sometimes as a manager you cannot live in the moment because you are always looking ahead, but I am really trying to appreciate what we have done.”

Wrexham’s immediate focus now shifts to Friday’s FA Cup fourth round meeting with Ipswich, a match that brings together two clubs chasing promotion. Ipswich currently sit three places above Wrexham in third.

Preparation has been disrupted by new injury concerns following Saturday’s two-nil defeat at Millwall. Midfielder Matty James suffered a broken toe, while Liberato Cacace sustained a low-level hamstring strain.

“It is not ideal to lose key players, but that is what you have a squad for,” Parkinson said. “We have had a decent run with injuries, so we have to adapt and move forward.”

For Parkinson, the balance between ambition and reflection remains central. Wrexham continue to chase further success, yet the manager remains keenly aware of the remarkable path already travelled.
