  • Oliver Glasner has confirmed Palace are open to offers, with more squad churn already shaping this season

France striker Jean-Philippe Mateta has told Crystal Palace he wants to leave, with clubs in the Premier League and across Europe tracking his situation ahead of the final 18 months of his contract at Selhurst Park. Mateta, 28, is not expected to sign an extension under the current terms, leaving Palace facing a clear decision window while his value remains high.

Juventus have tried to sign him in January, though talks have stalled with the Serie A club yet to meet Palace’s asking price, which is believed to be around £40m. Aston Villa remain interested after monitoring Mateta for an extended period, and Palace manager Oliver Glasner confirmed last week that offers are being considered, saying: “There will be a price that Crystal Palace [accept], with 18 months left on his contract. We’d do the deal, if JP wants. If nobody pays that price, then he will stay.”

Palace’s squad has already shifted sharply across the past two windows. The club, FA Cup winners in May, sold Eberechi Eze to Arsenal in the summer, then lost captain Marc Guehi this month after he joined Manchester City in a £20m deal. Glasner has also announced he will leave at the end of the season, and he criticised the club’s direction after Saturday’s defeat by Sunderland, arguing the team had been “abandoned” by the recruitment strategy. Palace’s month has already included one of the FA Cup’s biggest shocks, going out to non league Macclesfield.
