Harry Maguire has signed a new contract with Manchester United, extending his stay at the club beyond the current season.
The defender had been set to become a free agent at the end of the campaign but has agreed a one year extension through to June 2027, with the option of a further 12 months.
Maguire said representing Manchester United carries significant responsibility and described the extension as a source of pride for himself and his family. He added that he intends to continue contributing to the team’s progress and aims to be part of future success at the club.
The centre back joined United from Leicester City in 2019 for a fee of £80m. He has since made 266 appearances and scored 17 goals.
Jason Wilcox, the club’s director of football, said Maguire brings experience, leadership and consistency to the squad. He added that the defender’s approach reflects the standards expected within the club.
Maguire has been a regular figure under Michael Carrick, with recent performances contributing to his return to the England national football team squad for fixtures against Uruguay national football team and Japan national football team.
