João Palhinha’s late strike looked set to be enough to give Spurs their first league win of 2026 and end a 15-match winless run. However, Kinsky ensured the result with a stunning one-handed save in the eighth minute of added time to deny João Gomes from a free-kick.

The intervention proved decisive, preserving a clean sheet and sealing three important points for a side battling near the bottom of the table.

Kinsky’s performance marked a significant turnaround after a difficult outing in the Champions League against Atlético Madrid last month, where early errors led to his substitution in the 17th minute.

Since then, the 23-year-old has regained confidence with support from teammates and has stepped in during the absence of first-choice goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, who is sidelined following hernia surgery.

De Zerbi praised Kinsky’s character and impact after the match, highlighting both his performance and his response to adversity.

“He deserves this day because he played very well,” De Zerbi said. “He was crucial for the result. Especially after Madrid, he deserves one day like today.”

Kinsky’s late save sparked celebrations among his teammates, who rushed to congratulate him after the final whistle.

Goalscorer Palhinha also underlined the importance of the goalkeeper’s contribution, crediting him equally for the victory.

“It was amazing,” Palhinha said. “That save gave us the three points.”
