  • Inter and Italy defender Alessandro Bastoni is being investigated by Italian prosecutors over allegations linked to an events company accused of organising underage prostitution.
  • Bastoni denies any wrongdoing, with his lawyer insisting the defender never paid for sex or had sexual relations with minors.
  • The investigation also targets organisers accused of arranging luxury events and providing underage girls to VIP clients.

Inter and Italy defender Alessandro Bastoni is under investigation by Italian prosecutors over allegations of underage prostitution as part of a wider inquiry into an events company accused of organising luxury nights for high-profile clients in Milan.

Prosecutors allege the company arranged exclusive dinners and nightclub events before providing private apartments where clients could allegedly meet underage girls. Bastoni is one of several individuals being investigated as authorities examine the activities of the agency and its organisers.

According to investigators, Bastoni allegedly met a 17-year-old girl recruited by the events company following a dinner organised in July 2020. Court documents cited by Italian media claim the defender intended to have sexual intercourse with the teenager after the evening concluded at an apartment in Cinisello Balsamo.

Wiretapped conversations published by Italian media reportedly include messages between Bastoni and one of the agency’s public relations representatives. In one exchange, the representative allegedly informed the defender that the underage girl wanted to spend time with him. Bastoni is said to have asked whether there was somewhere they could avoid being seen, with the representative replying that arrangements could be made if necessary.

Prosecutors claim the events company induced the teenager into prostitution on the night of July 11, 2020. The girl, who has since been questioned as a witness, confirmed she visited Bastoni’s home but denied that any sexual relationship took place between them.

Bastoni’s lawyer, Salvatore Scuto, strongly rejected the allegations.

“I can rule out that my client ever paid for sex, let alone had sexual relations with minors,” Scuto said.

Under Italian law, engaging in sexual acts with individuals aged between 14 and 18 in exchange for money or any other form of benefit, whether received or merely promised, carries a prison sentence ranging from one to six years.

The investigation comes during a difficult period for Bastoni, who has already faced criticism following Italy’s failure to qualify for the 2026 World Cup. The defender was sent off during the decisive defeat to Bosnia and Herzegovina in April, a result that ended Italy’s qualification hopes.

Earlier in the year, Bastoni also found himself at the centre of controversy during Inter’s Serie A victory over Juventus. The defender was widely accused of simulation in an incident that resulted in Juventus centre-back Pierre Kalulu being sent off. Despite appeals from Juventus players, VAR was unable to intervene because second yellow card decisions are not reviewable under current regulations.

Inter went on to win the match 3-2, with Bastoni later apologising publicly for his actions during a press conference.

The investigation into the events company remains ongoing, and Italian prosecutors have not announced whether formal charges will be brought against any of the individuals involved.
