  • Al Ittihad renew pursuit of Mohamed Salah following Liverpool exit decision
  • Saudi side previously had £150m bid rejected and now lead race for his signature
  • Al Qadsiah seen as only domestic rival for potential deal

Al Ittihad have resumed efforts to sign Mohamed Salah after the forward confirmed he will leave Liverpool at the end of the season.

The Saudi Pro League side previously saw a £150 million bid rejected in 2023 but are now preparing a renewed approach as they look to secure a marquee signing. Salah is viewed as a leading candidate to become the face of the club following Karim Benzema’s departure to Al Hilal.

Sources indicate that Al Qadsiah are the only other team in Saudi Arabia capable of rivaling Al Ittihad financially, while Al Nassr, Al Ahli and Al Hilal are not currently pursuing a deal.

Despite signing a contract extension in 2025, Salah is expected to leave Liverpool on a free transfer. The 33-year-old departs as one of the club’s greatest players, with 255 goals in 435 appearances, placing him third on the all-time scoring list behind Ian Rush and Roger Hunt.

Since joining from AS Roma in 2017, Salah has played a central role in Liverpool’s success, helping the club win multiple major honours including the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League.

However, his form has dipped this season, and tensions emerged following comments in which he suggested the club had “thrown him under the bus” during a difficult run of results.

Al Ittihad are also exploring a move for Casemiro, who is expected to leave Manchester United at the end of his contract. Any deal may depend on decisions regarding the future of Fabinho within the squad.

With Salah now set for a new chapter, attention turns to whether Saudi Arabia will become his next destination as clubs position themselves to secure one of the game’s most high-profile forwards.
