  • Arsenal have signed Greece international Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge in a deal worth £34 million.
  • The winger becomes Mikel Arteta’s latest summer addition following the departure of Leandro Trossard.
  • Sporting director Andrea Berta believes Tzolis will add goals, creativity and greater attacking quality to the Premier League champions.

Arsenal have completed the signing of winger Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge, strengthening Mikel Arteta’s attacking options ahead of the new season.

Sources had previously told ESPN that the transfer is worth £34 million ($45.7 million), with the Greece international arriving after Leandro Trossard’s move to Besiktas.

Tzolis joins the Premier League champions after an outstanding campaign in Belgium, where he registered 22 goals and 29 assists in 52 appearances across all competitions for Club Brugge.

Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta welcomed the arrival of the 23-year-old and believes he will bring added quality and versatility to the squad.

“We’re delighted to have completed the signing of Christos Tzolis,” Berta said.

“Christos is an extremely versatile attacking player who naturally operates on the left but is comfortable across the front line.”

“He’s an excellent finisher with both feet, thrives in tight spaces and possesses incredible technical ability.”

Berta also pointed to the consistency Tzolis has shown over recent seasons.

“He has produced outstanding numbers in terms of goals and assists over the last three seasons,” Berta said.

“He is a player who will raise the technical level of our squad while bringing positive energy, enthusiasm and a strong mentality.”

“We’re confident Christos will make a significant contribution to our club and we look forward to seeing him begin this new chapter.”

Tzolis arrives in north London with experience across several European leagues.

The winger began his professional career at PAOK before moving to Norwich City, where he made 14 Premier League appearances. His first appearance in the competition came against Arsenal at Emirates Stadium.

Following his spell in England, Tzolis rebuilt his career through successful periods with FC Twente in the Eredivisie, Fortuna Düsseldorf in Germany’s second division and Club Brugge in the Belgian Pro League.

At international level, he has earned 34 caps for Greece and scored nine goals.

Arsenal have continued to strengthen the squad that won last season’s Premier League title, with Tzolis becoming the latest addition of the summer.

Piero Hincapié has completed a permanent move following his loan spell, while goalkeeper Illan Meslier joined the club on a free transfer after leaving Leeds United.

Tzolis now arrives with the expectation of providing greater competition across Arsenal’s front line as Arteta prepares his squad for another campaign competing on multiple fronts.
