Brooklyn Peltz Beckham blasts parents, rules out reconciliation
- Brooklyn Peltz Beckham says he does “not want to reconcile with my family” and claims he has faced “endless attacks” pushed to the press.
- He says the dispute centres on Nicola Peltz Beckham, claiming his parents have been “trying endlessly to ruin” their relationship.
- David and Victoria Beckham have not publicly addressed the rift, and the BBC has sought comment via representatives.
Brooklyn Peltz Beckham has issued a public statement about the long-rumoured split between him and the rest of the Beckham family, saying: “I do not want to reconcile with my family,” and accusing his parents of “attacking” him and wife Nicola in the press.
In posts shared with his followers, the 26 year old said he had tried to keep the situation out of view, writing: “I have been silent for years and made every effort to keep these matters private,” before adding: “Unfortunately, my parents and their team have continued to go to the press, leaving me with no choice but to speak for myself and tell the truth about only some of the lies that have been printed.” He then repeated: “I do not want to reconcile with my family. I’m not being controlled, I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life.”
He also claimed he has watched the dispute escalate, saying: “Recently, I have seen with my own eyes the lengths that they’ll go through to place countless lies in the media, mostly at the expense of innocent people, to preserve their own facade. But I believe the truth always comes out.”
A major part of his statement focused on Nicola Peltz Beckham. He said she has been “consistently disrespected by my family, no matter how hard we’ve tried to come together as one”, and alleged his mother was involved in wedding related tensions, claiming she had “cancelled making Nicola’s dress in the eleventh hour despite how excited she was to wear her design, forcing her to urgently find a new dress”.
He went on to accuse his mother of “hijacking” their first dance, alleging that when he was called up, “my mum was waiting to dance with me” instead of his wife, and that she “danced very inappropriately on me in front of everyone”. He said they renewed their vows to create new memories “that bring us joy and happiness, not anxiety and embarrassment”.
Brooklyn Peltz Beckham also alleged pressure around his name and commercial rights, saying his parents had “repeatedly pressured and attempted to bribe me into signing away the rights to my name” shortly before the ceremony, adding that his refusal “affected the payday, and they have never treated me the same since”.
He addressed another flashpoint in the speculation, the couple missing David Beckham’s birthday celebrations. He said they travelled to London yet were “rejected for a week as we waited in our hotel room trying to plan quality time with him”, adding: “He refused all of our attempts, unless it was at his big birthday party with a hundred guests and cameras at every corner,” and describing a condition that Nicola could not attend as a “slap in the face”.
He further alleged his mother had “repeatedly invited women from my past into our lives in ways that were clearly intended to make us both uncomfortable”, and criticised what he described as a focus on image, claiming his family values “public promotion and endorsements above all else” and that “Brand Beckham comes first,” with “family ‘love’ is decided by how much you post on social media”.
On his own wellbeing, he wrote: “I have been controlled by my parents for most of my life. I grew up with overwhelming anxiety. For the first time in my life, since stepping away from my family, that anxiety has disappeared”. He also claimed he has been on the receiving end of “endless attacks from my parents, both privately and publicly, that were sent to the press on their orders”, and alleged his younger brothers had been “sent to attack me on social media, before they ultimately blocked me out of nowhere this last summer”.
One of his brothers, Cruz Beckham, previously pushed back on claims their parents had unfollowed Brooklyn, saying: “Not true. My mum and dad would never unfollow their son. Let’s get the facts right,” before adding: “They woke up blocked as I did.”
