“Christian is doing well and walked off the pitch himself,” Boesen said.

“As I see it, the pacemaker is responding as it should. He was briefly gone, but regained consciousness very quickly, and we were quickly in contact with him.

“He will now undergo further examinations at the hospital to determine what caused the incident.”

Boesen also revealed that Eriksen was keen to reassure teammates and supporters amid understandable concern.

“We are in ongoing contact with him and the doctors at the hospital,” Boesen added.

“But Christian is doing well, and he asked me to send his regards to all the players and tell them that he was okay.”

The scenes cast a shadow over what had been a routine international fixture, with supporters inside the stadium falling silent as medical staff attended to Eriksen.

For many watching, it was a reminder of the remarkable resilience Eriksen has shown since the events of June 2021. After suffering a cardiac arrest during the European Championship, few expected him to return to elite football.
