Kobbie Mainoo has signed a new long-term contract with Manchester United, extending his stay at Old Trafford until 2031.

The 21-year-old midfielder’s previous deal had been due to run until 2027, but the new agreement reflects his growing importance to the club following a dramatic turnaround in form this year.

Mainoo’s resurgence has come under head coach Michael Carrick, who took charge in January. After struggling for opportunities under former boss Ruben Amorim — even requesting a loan move last summer — the academy graduate has become a key figure, starting 12 of Carrick’s first 13 matches in charge.

His performances have helped lift United to third in the Premier League and earned him a recall to the England national football team squad in March ahead of this summer’s World Cup.

Speaking after signing the new deal, Mainoo подчеркed his deep connection to the club.

“Manchester United has always been my home; this special club means everything to my family,” he said.

“I have grown up seeing the impact that our club has on our city, and I relish the responsibility that comes with wearing this shirt.”

Mainoo, who joined United at the age of six, also expressed his ambition to contribute to the club’s long-term success.

“We can all feel the momentum building inside the club. I am determined to step up and play my role in helping Manchester United to regularly fight for major trophies in the years ahead.”

The new contract marks a significant milestone in Mainoo’s career and underlines United’s commitment to developing homegrown talent as they look to build for the future.
