Gary Neville believes Arsenal have a better chance of winning the Premier League than securing Champions League glory this season.

Mikel Arteta’s side remain in contention on both fronts, sitting near the top of the league while preparing to face Atlético Madrid in the Champions League semifinals. However, Neville suggested the domestic title represents a more realistic opportunity.

“I think the Premier League is easier for them to win than the Champions League right now,” Neville said on The Gary Neville Podcast. “There are better teams in the Champions League and it’s a cup competition.”

Arsenal’s lead at the top has narrowed in recent weeks, with the Gunners now just three points clear of Manchester City, having played a game more. Their latest result, a 1-0 win over Newcastle United, kept them in front but did little to convince Neville of their attacking fluency.

Despite remaining unbeaten in Europe, Neville predicted Arsenal would fall short in the semifinals for a second consecutive year.

“I don’t see them getting past Atlético Madrid,” he said. “But I do see them having a chance in the league.”

Neville praised Arsenal’s defensive organisation and work rate, highlighting those qualities as key strengths in the title race.

“They defend really well, they’re compact and incredibly disciplined,” he said. “That can win you a title.”

However, he raised concerns about their attacking approach, suggesting the team lacks creativity and decisiveness in forward areas.

“What you want is more freedom and certainty in attack,” Neville added. “I don’t always see the idea, and they’re not positive enough at times.”

With both competitions entering decisive stages, Arsenal face a crucial period that could define their season and determine whether they can convert their promise into silverware.
