Tottenham close in on Igor Tudor as interim head coach
- Spurs move quickly to secure short term replacement for Thomas Frank
- Tudor verbally agrees deal ahead of Arsenal clash
- Club retain long term managerial search beyond the summer
Tottenham are finalising the appointment of Igor Tudor as interim head coach until the end of the season, with sources confirming advanced discussions following the dismissal of Thomas Frank.
Talks accelerated over the past 24 hours as the club streamlined its shortlist and identified Tudor as the preferred option due to his extensive experience at
Tudor has verbally agreed to take on the role, although final contractual details are still being completed. Tottenham expect the appointment to be confirmed by Monday, when players return from a short break, with preparations already underway for the north London derby against Arsenal on February 22.
The Croatian coach left Juventus in October following an eight match winless sequence. His previous managerial roles include spells with Hajduk Split, Udinese, Marseille and Lazio. As a player, he won two Serie A titles during a successful career at Juventus.
Sources indicate Tudor will be given the opportunity to stake a claim for the permanent position if he can stabilise the campaign and guide Tottenham to a strong finish. The club currently sit sixteenth in the Premier League, five points above the relegation zone, and face a Champions League round of sixteen tie next month.
Tottenham continue to assess longer term options for the summer. Mauricio Pochettino remains prominent in club discussions and would represent a popular return, though his availability after the tournament remains uncertain. Roberto De Zerbi, Oliver Glasner and Andoni Iraola are also being monitored, while Fulham manager Marco Silva had previously been considered before Frank’s appointment.
For now, Tudor is trusted to steady the side and bring immediate structure during a challenging period of transition.
