WATCH: Chaos in Prague as Slavia-Sparta Derby Marred by Pitch Invasion and Flares
The highly anticipated Prague derby between Slavia and Sparta was plagued by fan-led disruptions from the very beginning. Even before the opening whistle, fans intervened in the pre-match ceremonies, forcing a delay of more than seven minutes to allow thick smoke from pyrotechnics to dissipate so play could start. While the match turned into a high-scoring affair, the atmosphere remained volatile as Slavia fought to maintain a 3-2 lead despite being reduced to ten men after Chorý received a red card in the 58th minute.
The tension peaked during stoppage time when the match took a chaotic turn. Approximately three minutes before the scheduled end of the game, fans stormed onto the pitch, forcing an early end to the match. The situation became so dangerous that Slavia’s coaching staff had to physically protect Sparta’s goalkeeper, Surovčík, from the invading supporters.
