Dominik Szoboszlai isn’t rushing anything.

In a season where he’s become one of Liverpool’s most important players, there’s been little movement on a new contract. Talks have been ongoing, but without breakthrough. He doesn’t seem overly concerned.

“There has been no real progression,” he said after the win over Everton. “So I cannot say anything new about my contract situation.”

It’s a calm response, reflective of his wider approach. With a deal running until 2028, there’s no immediate pressure. And right now, his focus is elsewhere.

“We have a lot of games to go and I am focusing on that,” he added. “I’m ready to go every day, every week, and then let’s see.”

There’s no hint of unrest. If anything, the opposite.

“I see myself here in the long term,” he said. “I love being here. I love the fans. My family is happy.”

Then a pause, and a line that probably matters more than the rest: “I’m completely relaxed.”

On the pitch, his influence continues to grow. Against Everton, he was involved in the decisive moment, delivering the corner that led to Virgil van Dijk’s stoppage-time winner.

“It felt amazing,” he said. “We practised set-pieces yesterday. I just put it in the mix and hoped for Virgil and Ibou to win it.”

They did. And in a derby, that’s usually enough.

The win has pushed Liverpool closer to Champions League qualification. Seven points clear of sixth, with five games remaining. It’s not done, but it’s heading in the right direction.

Szoboszlai knows that. He also knows how quickly things can shift.

“A win always changes the mood,” he said. “But we have to keep our feet on the floor and keep working hard.”

There’s a maturity to his game now. Not just in the numbers, which are strong, but in the way he carries himself. Focused, measured, aware of the bigger picture.

Contract talks will continue in the background. They usually do. But for now, there’s no urgency from his side.

Just games to play, and a season to finish properly.
