De Zerbi Commits to Tottenham Future Amid Relegation Fight

• Roberto De Zerbi vows to remain Spurs head coach regardless of division
• Tottenham sit just one point above relegation zone with seven games left
• Injury concerns grow with Vicario and Kudus unavailable

Roberto De Zerbi has insisted he will remain at Tottenham Hotspur next season “no matter what,” as the club battle to avoid relegation.

De Zerbi, who signed a five-year contract to replace Igor Tudor, addressed concerns about his long-term commitment after initially hesitating to take the role before accepting the job this month.

Tottenham head into the weekend sitting just one point above the bottom three, with a crucial trip to Sunderland looming.

“I believe first of all we have to keep Spurs in the Premier League,” De Zerbi said. “I want to work in this league and I believe I deserve to be here.

“If I sign a contract now, I have to be ready to stay no matter what next season. My idea is very clear.”

There has been understandable anxiety around Spurs, not just because of their league position but also the uncertainty that often follows managerial changes mid-season. De Zerbi’s message, though, was direct. He is not treating this as a short-term assignment.

Instead, the focus is immediate survival. Seven games remain and the margins are tight, the kind of situation where clarity matters more than long-term planning.

Tottenham’s task is complicated by injuries. Goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario is still recovering from a hernia operation, meaning Antonín Kinský is expected to start. It will be his first appearance since a difficult outing against Atlético Madrid last month.

Further forward, Mohammed Kudus remains sidelined after a setback in his recovery from a thigh injury. De Zerbi declined to confirm whether surgery will be required but admitted the absence is a significant blow.

“Kudus was in my head a crucial player,” he said. “But we have to look forward. We have good attackers and we have to put them in the best position.”

There is little room for overthinking now. Tottenham need points, quickly, and performances that match the urgency of their situation.

De Zerbi, for his part, is trying to remove any doubt about his own future. Whether that steadies the club over the coming weeks will become clear soon enough.
