  • Tottenham are advancing talks with Manchester City over a deal worth around £60 million for Brazilian winger Savinho.
  • Spurs believe the 22-year-old is keen on the move as negotiations continue over the structure of the transfer.
  • New head coach Roberto De Zerbi is expected to receive significant backing after Tottenham narrowly avoided relegation last season.

Tottenham Hotspur are moving closer to securing the signing of Savinho from Manchester City, with discussions progressing over a deal worth in the region of £60 million as the club continues its summer rebuild under Roberto De Zerbi.

Sources have indicated that Spurs are increasingly confident of reaching an agreement for the Brazilian winger, who is understood to be open to the move to north London.

Negotiations between the two clubs remain ongoing, with talks currently focused on the structure of the proposed transfer package rather than the overall valuation.

Tottenham’s interest in Savinho is not new. The club explored the possibility of signing the winger last summer, but Manchester City were unwilling to sanction a departure at that stage.

Twelve months on, City’s position appears to have softened.

The Premier League champions are now prepared to listen to offers, with a £60 million fee representing a significant return on the £30.8 million they paid to sign the player from Troyes in July 2024.

Savinho arrived at the Etihad Stadium carrying considerable expectations after an impressive rise through the City Football Group network. However, opportunities have often been limited in a squad packed with elite attacking talent.

The Brazilian has made 84 appearances for City, scoring seven goals while contributing across multiple competitions. Although flashes of his quality have been evident, he has struggled to establish himself as an automatic starter.

That situation has alerted Tottenham, who view the winger as a player capable of adding pace, directness and creativity to their attacking options.

The move also fits into a wider strategy being shaped by De Zerbi following his appointment earlier this summer.

After a turbulent campaign in which Spurs narrowly avoided relegation, the club’s hierarchy are determined to strengthen the squad and provide their new head coach with the tools required to reshape the team.

De Zerbi has built his reputation on progressive, attacking football and Savinho’s profile appears well suited to the Italian’s demands. His ability to operate on either flank, carry the ball at speed and create chances in one-versus-one situations makes him an attractive option as Tottenham look to re-establish themselves in the Premier League.

There is still work to be done before the deal is completed, but confidence is growing that an agreement can be reached.

For Tottenham supporters, it would represent one of the club’s most significant signings of the summer and a clear signal that the rebuild under De Zerbi is gathering momentum.

After a season spent looking nervously over their shoulders, Spurs are now trying to look forward again. Bringing in a player of Savinho’s potential would be another step in that direction.
