Manchester United Raise Mbeumo Offer to £60m+

Manchester United have increased their bid for Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo, putting more than £60 million on the table in a renewed push to sign the striker.
Earlier this month, United’s opening offer — consisting of £45m and up to £10m in potential add-ons — was turned away by the west London club.
The 25-year-old Cameroon international is now the focus of ongoing negotiations that could lead him to become the second new face through the door this summer at Old Trafford.
United added Matheus Cunha in a £62.5m deal from Wolves and still plan to bolster Ruben Amorim’s squad ahead of pre-season, which begins on 7 July.
Tottenham’s new boss, Thomas Frank, is understood to be interested in bringing Mbeumo to north London — having previously worked with the striker at Brentford — while other top-tier European clubs are also keeping tabs.
Insiders say Brentford are reluctant to accept a figure lower than the Cunha fee — especially with Mbeumo entering the final year of his current contract.
His 2023-24 campaign was by far the most productive of his career, with 20 goals and nine assists, making him one of the Premier League’s standout forwards. That productivity — coupled with his established record in English football — adds particular value for Amorim, who’s looking for players ready to slot in immediately following sluggish starts under Erik ten Hag in previous seasons.
Mbeumo, a teammate of United goalkeeper Andre Onana at international level, is also expected to miss a portion of next season. He’ll be called up for Cameroon during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, which starts on 24 December. The Indomitable Lions begin their group campaign against Gabon.
This latest push for Mbeumo has also brought more attention onto Alejandro Garnacho. The Argentina winger posted a photo wearing an Aston Villa shirt with Marcus Rashford’s name on the back. Rashford replied with “my brother.” Garnacho, believed to be valued at around £60m, has reportedly been told by Amorim to find a new club this summer.
United’s interest in Mbeumo continues as the club looks to refresh its options in attack under their new manager.
