Tottenham Step Up Pursuit of De Zerbi as Managerial Search Intensifies
• Tottenham target Roberto De Zerbi as priority appointment
• Club seeking third manager of the season after Igor Tudor exit
• Mauricio Pochettino also considered but focused on international role
Tottenham Hotspur are intensifying efforts to appoint Roberto De Zerbi as their new head coach, with the club keen to secure his arrival before the end of the season.
Spurs are searching for their third manager of the campaign following the departure of Igor Tudor, who left after a brief spell in charge that yielded just one win in seven matches. The team currently sit 17th in the Premier League, one point above the relegation zone.
The urgency surrounding the appointment has increased amid a prolonged run without a league victory since late December. Tottenham are aiming to have a new head coach in place ahead of their next fixture against Sunderland on April 12.
De Zerbi, who previously managed Brighton & Hove Albion and most recently left Olympique de Marseille, has held initial discussions with Spurs. While he had indicated a preference to consider a move in the summer, the club are now attempting to accelerate negotiations and bring him in immediately.
Mauricio Pochettino remains another leading candidate, although his current commitment to the United States men’s national soccer team ahead of the World Cup makes an immediate return unlikely.
Other options under consideration include Adi Hütter and Sean Dyche, though the club’s preference is to appoint a permanent manager with experience of the Premier League.
Tottenham’s priority is to stabilise their position in the table, with the decision over their next head coach viewed as critical to avoiding relegation.
